Reflections of the Season

As is our custom, here at Valley TechNologies, we take a time to reflect on the many blessings we have enjoyed over this past year. It's been a bit tough for many in 2017. We have seen a considerable amount of divisiveness.   There are those who have left social media altogether due to harsh and condemning communication - much that has permeated the internet. There are many who have suffered unimaginable loss - death, destruction, disasters, dreams, or ill health. In the midst of this, we would like to share our hope that through all life's challenges, we might truly embrace the beauty of life, that which is so often reflected in people's hearts at Christmas and live it in our own little corners of the world. ...

Downtime is important for Business Owners

It's easy to get sidetracked when you own a business! Most small business owners wear so many hats that they feel as though they simply cannot take time away, or the business may not perform well. The irony in that line of thinking is that, without taking time to decompress, unwind and truly relax, our productivity is actually lessened. And the summer season almost makes it worse, because as the day grows longer, there is a tendency to stay at the office, or at one's desk. Winter darkness is a reminder to shut down, so with longer days, it can become all the more of a temptation to just keep working. 2017 – the year of the secure Internet!

If you have an E-Commerce site where customers are entering secure information like credit card info, you are likely already using a site secured by an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Certificate. But if you don't have one - even if your site takes no information from the viewer - Google will now list your site as "Not Secure". Click here to read more about SSL and why you will need it....

“Can you hear me now?”

A new scam affecting credit cards has been reported, where a "robo-call" connects, the person at the other end mumbles something, then apologizes, and says "My name is <whatever> with the service department.  Can you hear okay me now?" If you get that call, DON'T ANSWER IT!  It's another credit card scam. (more…)...
